GTF Transfer News: New Contract Beckons?

After the so-called ‘news’ of interest in Gary Taylor-Fletcher from Swansea City in the Guardian, it is perhaps worth pondering whether the attacker`s agent is looking to seal a new contract for his client at Bloomfield Road.

In uncharacteristic fashion, Ian Evatt penned a new deal last week despite being under contract at the club. That was in response to a bid in the region of £900,000 from Portsmouth.

Now we see a story appear in the papers that Taylor-Fletcher is a wanted man – presumably to give Karl Oyston the hurry up in tying down his key players on longer contracts.

Evatt signed for two more years (plus an additional option) as did Stephen Crainey and Matt Gilks as the Seasiders aim to keep the nucleus of the promotion squad together.

All three are undoubtedly on bigger wages – which has to be deserved – and that should be no different for GTF, who has consistently proven doubters wrong in his four years at the club.

So much so that his game has now seen him adapt into a link player, or even as the main striker, in Blackpool’s fluid 4-3-3 formation. Previous managers Simon Grayson and Tony Parkes had struggled to get the best of him – despite some decent performances – when playing in his perceived natural position on the right hand side of midfield.

One of the stand-out players in Pool’s relegation campaign, GTF has shown that he deserves a new contract which mirrors his ability, just like the aforementioned tangerines.

And who can blame his agent if the story was fed to the Guardian? It would be hard not to presume that he is incredibly under-paid by Championship standards (a presumption made on the fact he’s not signed a new deal since the Seasiders’ new-found wealth).

Come on KO, continue to do the right thing!

Great news for Blackpool , we need to keep GTF because he has alot of experience at the club and has become a key part of the squad.
