Defender Grant Hall couldn’t have timed his return from injury better as he returned to the first team on Saturday and grabbed the equaliser against Blackburn Rovers.

With Jordan Rhodes putting the home side ahead after 14 minutes of the game, Blackpool battled away and Hall grabbed the leveller three minutes before the half time break and in doing so not only did he gain us a point on our travel – with manager Lee Clark calling for us to turn our away form around ahead of the game – he also bagged the Championship’s 1000th goal of the season to go down in the history books.

Connecting with a Jamie O’Hara free kick putting the ball in with his head, before then playing his part in a defensive showing that kept them from scoring again, a delighted Hall told the Official Site.

‘We dug in. We were under pressure a lot in the second half, so it’s a great result to come here and get a point. I’ve made the run and Clarkey has won the flick on, I tried to direct it and it didn’t go exactly where I wanted it to, but it’s in the back of the net which is all that counts.’

It was also his first professional goal and he admitted that this did mean a lot to him aswell.

Having missed the last month with an ankle injury, the on loan Tottenham Hotspur player was obviously delighted to get the nod following the suspension to Tom Aldred and make his first team return, and coming through all 90 minutes he knows can only benefit his quest for proper fitness now and he’s hoping to have done enough to keep his place moving forward.

‘Towards the end we were under so much pressure and I started to feel it in my legs. A few of the boys have been ill this week, and even some of the boys that were playing were struggling with a couple of niggles. We were down to the bare bones, which is the last thing you need in a relegation fight, but it shows the spirit we’ve got, we dug in and got a good point.’

Since coming in, the 23 year old has now made three appearances in total, with two of those being starts with one goal to his name.
