Hideous Looking Month Ahead

It`s frightening! It`s February!

It`s frightening! It`s February! Simon Grayson and his Blackpool squad go into Saturday`s game against Brentford knowing that a win could propel them into the League One playoffs, but equally a defeat could set the tone for a treacherous month.

Many fans are dubbing the next four weeks as a ‘make or break` for The Seasiders. Three playoff and promotion type games are being played, with ‘Pool taking on not only Oldham next week, but also Nottingham Forest and Bristol City in the weeks proceeding. However, the Bristol City home game could well be rearranged. This depends on the result from the FA Cup replay with Norwich City, which will be held on the 13th. If the mighty win, it`s a trip to Stamford Bridge to tackle the champions of England in the fifth round of the ‘best domestic up competition in the world`.

A couple of days ago, we asked which game that you, the fans, thought was Blackpool`s most important of the month?

The results read:
Oldham: 59%
Forest: 14%
Norwich: 8%
Chelski (WHEN we get there): 8%
Bristol City: 11%

So, the crunch fixture away at Boundary Park is the most important of the month. This game always has something a bit special about it. Whether it`s Lewis Gobern`s goal last year, or Richie Wellens` contested strike this time out, there`s always something to talk about and a good game to boot. This time however, there is added significance. The Latics are six points ahead of ‘Pool (although that could change on Saturday!) and lie in second spot – with The Seasiders having a game in hand – which is at home to strugglers Bournemouth.

Nottingham Forest is another huge game. At The City Ground it will be extremely difficult for Grayson`s men to come away with anything but a good result could give the squad even more confidence.

Then there is the FA Cup – a wanted or unwanted distraction? Norwich away will be a fantastic night I`m sure, but do we really need it, and will the lack of bodies in the squad shine through as the Tuesday night games pile up? If we do win (which I believe we will) the champions await in what both teams will see as a dream draw. Great day out possibly for us, providing we don`t get hammered. Great draw for Chelski because let`s face it, we`re not going to be winning the game! If we do win away at Carrow Road on the 13th, it means the Bristol City game will be put back to sometime in March – another Tuesday night game!

I hope Blackpool like playing under lights. The more or break month played at night…
