Holloway Unhappy Over Adam Attitude

New Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has laid down a marker to transfer target Charlie Adam, claiming the midfielder doesn’t want to play for the club.

Adam – whose sterling performances in the middle of the park at the back end of last season led ‘Pool to safety – has been attracting the interest of Reading in recent times, and looks set to play his football away from Bloomfield Road next campaign.

This is something Holloway has come to terms with quickly, and perhaps in an attempt to focus Adam’s mind, has said: ‘Charlie is a good player, who did very well for us, but if a player thinks he can go on to something bigger and better, then I don’t want him.’

If the manager does indeed want him this is a risky strategy and could alienate the 23-year-old.

Whilst there is a very slim chance of Charlie winning his place back in the Rangers team, he will be best advised to listen to what is being offered by The Seasiders, if anything at all at this point.

Holloway continued: ‘My understanding of what happened at the player of the year presentation was that Charlie did not really answer the question when he was asked about staying at Blackpool. He also said he might be going to Birmingham or Wolves.’

It does sound as if the manager has his eye on other central midfielders (and my god, do Blackpool need them!) and whilst as stated above this is a risky game to play if we want Charlie to sign, it could spur the Scotsman on.

Who knows, but this saga is likely to run and run. Hopefully we’re not left short if and when he moves elsewhere.

I guess there arent many clubs bigger and better than blackpool eh? Then again if Blackpool could stump up the cash to buy him and the wages he is on, they might have a chance of getting him… I cant blame charlie adam for wanting to go to a bigger club than blackpool though, considering its such a step down from Rangers… but he does thrive in smaller clubs as opposed to rangers… you had Gow then Adam, you can have mcculloch if adam doesnt sign
