Holloway Wades Into Seip Debate

If you listen to Plymouth fans, Marcel Seip is one of the best defenders in the division. However, after a major falliing out with the seemingly unsackable Paul Sturrock, the Dutch defender found himself sent on loan to Blackpool.

In a strange decision, Argyle gave Seip permission to play against them when the two sides recently met at Bloomfield Road, and sure enough, Seip played and scored in a 2-0 home win.

The defender’s goal in that match has sparked heated debate, with the issue now spilling over onto the pitch.

After the 2-0 win, Marcel’s wife Lucy (who just happens to be the daughter of Plymouth’s vice-chairman Paul Stapleton) was spotted celebrating the win and giving her husband the thumbs up; a natural reaction you would think.

But the Plymouth players have not taken to this incident too kindly and after a recent goal, Argyle captain Carl Fletcher and several other players ran over to the directors box at Home Park to give them a sarcastic thumbs up.

Blackpool are now working on extending the defender’s spell at Bloomfield Road, and despite vowing to stay clear of the negotiations and issue, Ian Holloway has waded into the debate.

‘I don’t understand what is going on down there and I would suggest that Mr Fletcher, rather than sticking his thumbs up because he scored a goal, should score a few more goals if he is captain.

‘At the end of the day I wish them all the best but stop being so childish.

‘All I have done is borrowed a player who wasn’t being picked at their football club. He has helped me keep three clean sheets and scored two.

‘So what has he done wrong? I don’t understand.’

It’ll be interesting to see what effect Ollie’s comments have on a already heated situation!
