Hurst Recalled, But Could Paynter Be On His Way?

West Brom yesterday recalled James Hurst from his loan at Blackpool after the England U20 international only made two sub appearances for the Seasiders since arriving on transfer deadline day.

The right back was likened to Seamus Coleman by ‘Pool manager Ian Holloway upon his arrival, but endured a torrid debut and only made one further appearance for the first team (although he did score a belter of a goal for the development squad, we’re told).

Truth be known, Hurst’s departure is no great loss; he wasn’t much cop and we have good depth at right back with Alex Baptiste, Neal Eardley, Chris Basham and Paul Bignot all capable of playing there.

Meanwhile, the Seasiders are believed to be interested in a loan move for out of favour Leeds striker Billy Paynter.

The 27 year old has failed to make any kind of impact at Elland Road since arriving from Swindon last summer and could now be set for a spell away from the club, with the Seasiders, Coventry, Brighton, Barnsley, Doncaster and Derby all said to be interested in the target man.

However, Leeds boss Simon Grayson insists that if Paynter does move anywhere, it’ll be to a League One club:

‘One thing for certain is that we wouldn’t consider Billy joining one of our rivals in the Championship, so any deal would have to suit all parties.’
