Jeffers Talks About ‘Pool Opportunity

As we all know, ex Everton, Arsenal, Blackburn and Sheffield Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers is currently training with the Seasiders whilst they participate in the South West Challenge Cup in Devon.

Emphasis needs to be placed on the word ‘training’ – despite many, many media reports suggesting that Jeffers is on trial with the Seasiders, it is Vital’s understanding that it is just very much a case of Jeffers helping us out whilst we’re short on bodies and us helping him out fitness wise whilst he considers several offers from abroad. Indeed, some have even suggested that Jeffers could be a ‘smokescreen’ for Pool’s real transfer targets.

Of course there is worry here at Vital over the confusion of Jeffers’ spell in tangerine, but the information we have received coupled with his below par performance in the friendly against Accrington the other night means that we are confident that Jeffers will not become a ‘Pool player on a full time basis.

Despite this, Jeffers and Ollie are keeping up the masquerade that it’s a trial, with Ollie saying that he wants to see if Jeffers still has it, whilst the ‘fox in the box’ himself offering the following thoughts on the Seasiders:

‘I still believe I can score goals in the Premier League.

‘I did it as a young lad and you have to have faith in your own ability. You never lose that knack of being in the right place at the right time.

‘When Ian called to invite me for a trial, I jumped at the chance.

‘I’ve been training on my own for a while now so it’s good to get back onto the football pitch.

‘Blackpool are a great club and have come a long way. I’d love to help them stay up.

‘They’re a top bunch of lads and staff and I can see why they’re going to playing in the Premier League.

‘Last year people wrote them off in the Championship but the camaraderie between the lads and the staff shows you that they’re a tight knit bunch.

‘When you stick together and play football in the right way, who knows where you can go?’
