Pool returned to League One and Murphy continued his great form, bagging in 20 goals in 2001/02.

He also managed to bag the first goal in the Football League Trophy win over Cambridge, he struck early on six minutes to open the scoring. Pool went on to win 4-1, it was Murphy`s fifth goal in the competition that season.

The next season Murphy bagged 19 despite missing a fair chunk of the end of the season with injury. He`s best performance came in the away victory at Luton, with Murphy bagging a hatrick in the 1-3 win. Goals from the big man came on 10, 52 and 74.

ool returned to Cardiff for another Football League Trophy win in 2004. The campaign started off with a Murphy hattrick over those ‘Plastic Scousers` Tranmere. A first half hatrick was enough for the 3-2 win.

Pool reached the final after beating Sheffield Wednesday in the Semi`s. Again Murphy scored early on two minutes this time against Southend. Danny Coid grabbed Pool`s second of the day for Murphy`s third trophy at the seaside.

Murphy ended the 2003/04 season with 13 goals.

2004/05 the injuries started to take their toll on the big man, being evolved in 34 matches and scoring 10. Two that stood out from that season was the second half double on New Years Day for an away victory at Wrexham.

In Murphy final season at the Seaside he bagged 8 goals with a couple in the now famous Sky Sports Grayson`s First match spanking of Scunthorpe. His final goal that season and final goal in a tangerine shirt came in the home win over Yeovil.

Murphy has forged his way into Macclesfield folk law by scoring against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the F.A. cup and his other 6 goals are helping the Cheshire side to safety in League Two.
