It was a weak Pool team with many of the first choice players being rested with Monday’s game against Chester City in mind.

There were a few first team players in the squad, Evans, Burns, Donnelly, Blinkhorn, Wiles and Jones. The team also featured two trialists, number 2 and number 17 who started the match on the bench.

Pool took the lead in the first half thanks to a goal from young striker Sean Patterson. The youngster from Morton will be hoping to break into the first team squad after impressing the reserves for the past two seasons.

Matthew Blinkhorn, who at the moment is the 4th striker in the squad squandered a great chance to get his name on the score sheet when his penalty was saved in the first half.

Pool added to their lead in the second half with a Jamie Burns header. Then a unknown player rounded the game nicely with him beating two men before slotting home.

All in all a good run out for the first team hopefuls.

Pool’s next game is against Chester City at the Deva on Monday night at 7:45 KO
