I can kind of see where Lee Clark is coming from but we signed Joe Lewis on loan for Cardiff for the season and given his recent form, and praise from Clark, dropping him on Wednesday was a surprise.

You appreciate that Clark does have to have ‘one eye on the future’ but, and I’m a cynic, it’s sometimes hard to think that ‘non footballing reasons’ are dictating things here? When he was dropped last time Clark was adamant that this wasn’t financially based and we didn’t try to send him back to Cardiff – just this week he praised him strongly, then he doesn’t even make the squad that goes to Birmingham!

If a permanent contract isn’t likely to be something he’ll agree with us fair enough but wouldn’t we want to, in a specialised position, go with our best option even if he won’t be here next season?

Clark’s suggested in the Blackpool Gazette that other loanees could be signing or ‘there’s a chance of something’ but with the ‘keeper ‘that isn’t the case’ and that does cast doubt on him playing for the club again? Clark wasn’t ruling that out.

‘I don’t know if that’s the end for Joe. He’s contracted to us still.’

Would Lewis have made the mistake that Elliott Parish did with the goal? It’ll be interesting to see what happens next….
