Blackpool’s game against Fleetwood Town this Saturday is by far the biggest game of the season and Neil McDonald must turn his side’s form around.
McDonald’s side have lost the last seven and haven’t scored in six, leading many fans to call for him to be sacked.
Certainly this type of form is enough to get a manager sacked. Just look at how much pressure Garry Monk is under at Swansea, and the job he’s done there has been brilliant!
However Neil McDonald has the most difficult job in football and whilst his side are failing to compete at a League One level, he of course cannot be solely blamed for his team’s failures, though he certainly shares a large responsibility as the manager of the team.
Whilst new ownership and a club run in the interests of supporters remains the goal for Tangerine fans, a win on Saturday may at least restore some faith that Blackpool could survive in League One.
Whilst this goal is not at all where the club should be aiming, given the financial resources at the club’s disposal, it seems that’s all we have to aim for, and even that right now seems an unlikely achievment.
Blackpool must win tomorrow, lose and I can’t see things getting any better for Neil McDonald’s side for the rest of the season.
Sadly though this team just doesn’t look like it has enough quality and Fleetwood, rejuvenated under the leadership of Steven Pressley, look to be a club with more hunger and desire to succeed.
The last time Blackpool played Fleetwood in an FA Cup tie Pool won 5-1 and Matt Phillips and Tom Ince were on the wings, oh how times have changed.
