Nile Ranger’s Blackpool career to date is well known with his appearance record and the words of former manager Lee Clark, but new manager Neil McDonald doesn’t seem overly fazed by the past and isn’t overly upset at this moment in time that Blackpool took the bizarre decision to exercise the option we held on Ranger despite not seeing him on the pitch since the end of November 2014.
In quotes carried by the Blackpool Gazette the new man in the hotseat said the future depending really on whether Ranger returns on the 29th for pre season training.
‘It will be interesting to see if he comes back on the 29th when we return for training. I`ll deal with his future when he comes back for training. I`ve dealt with awkward players before. I`m only talking about on the pitch here, off it you just have to try and control it as much as you can. We`ll see how it goes if he turns up on the 29th.’
That’s the most open of invites Ranger might get, be interesting to see if he takes it and whether or not we finally get to unlock the potential he has as a player when other issues aren’t taking the headlines.
The same outlet also carry quotes from Costa Rican midfielder Jose Cubero from an interview the 28 year old did in his homeland, and despite receiving a work permit for a second year with us, he still doesn’t sound sold on staying with us for life in League One.
‘I`ve said to Blackpool I also want to have the option of a transfer but we are still talking. At the moment there`s nothing to report. My agent is in talks with Blackpool and there are teams that have shown interest in me.’
Having extended his deal, should he move we would at least get a fee for him now.
