Dean Lyness, who was on loan last season of course, has been snapped up on a free transfer by Blackpool after his Burton release with former Celtic midfielder John Herron returning to Scotland joining Dunfermline on loan.
Lyness’ return to Bloomfield Road on a permanent basis has seen him brought in by Gary Bowyer on a deal until the end of the season with Blackpool having the option of a second-year.
The 25-year-old will now compete with Sam Slocombe, who himself came in on a free earlier in the summer, to be the first choice for Pools.
Heading away from Blackpool though was Herron who returned to Scotland on a half-season loan move to Dunfermline, with that loan running initially until January 31st.
22-year-old Herron had made 20 appearances since his arrival, although 11 of them did come from the bench.
This spell will give Herron the chance to impress Bowyer into a New Year return and a chance under him or earning a deal elsewhere (with Dunfermline perhaps) permanently when the winter window opens.
