The Football League have produced a Team of Deadline Day to make what they believe could be the best signings made on the final day of the summer transfer window.

With the Football League contributing £150million in transfer deals as football more than broke the £1billion mark this year, here’s the EFL’s stand out signings from Wednesday.

‘Stopper Lyness spent some of last season on loan with the Tangerines, and made his move permanent early on Deadline Day after being released by Burton.’

I don’t remember the Football League doing this last year, but it could well have been missed, and yes there are some semi surprising transfers in their ‘team’ selection, and making it a team of deadline day does mean it naturally misses out on those deals earlier in the summer where fans will think they’ve got a good shout at having the ‘deal’ of the window on their books now.

And whilst some of the names below could well be key for their new sides in the remainder of 2016/17, I’m not sure it contains what will be looked at as the ‘stand out signing’ come next May, as other deals come to my mind, as they probably do yours.

Full Team:

Dean Lyness (Burton to Blackpool), Marnick Vermijl (Sheff W to Preston), Charlie Mulgrew (Celtic to Blackburn), Richard Stearman (Fulham to Wolves), Rico Henry (Walsall to Brentford), Sammy Ameobi (Newcastle to Bolton), George Moncur (Barnsley to Peterborough), Eunan O’Kane (Bournemouth to Leeds), Albert Adomah (Middlesbrough to Villa), Rickie Lambert (WBA to Cardiff), Chris Martin (Derby to Fulham).
