Dean Lyness has today returned to Blackpool and penned a one year contract with the club.

Blackpool hold a further year’s option on that deal.

Having been with us for nine games last season during two loan spells from Burton Albion, after leaving them he was a free agent and with the departure of Kyle Letheren leaving for York last week, manager Gary Bowyer obviously wanted cover in.

The 25 year old will now compete for the No 1 shirt with Sam Slocombe.

Speaking to the Official Site Bowyer explained.

‘We needed to strengthen in the goalkeeper department and I`m pleased that we`ve been able to add Dean to the squad. He did very well on loan last season and he`s in a position where he knows the club and several players in the dressing room already. I`ve said on numerous occasions that I want competition for places throughout the squad, and I`m sure the goalkeepers will bring out the best in each other.’
