Match Expected To Go Ahead

This afternoon’s FA Cup tie against Ipswich at Bloomfield Road looks set to go ahead after the pitch was covered on New Year’s Eve night (credit to whoever got the covers sorted… can’t believe it was our ‘illustrious’ chairman myself!).

The last two home games have both been postponed due to a frozen pitch (and due to a lack of pitch covers!), but groundsman Stan Ruby confirmed to the official website yesterday that the pitch was looking playable:

‘Having looked under the covers… I can confirm that the pitch is playable, there is a stiff area in front of the South Stand, however, given the forecast for Saturday morning I doubt this will be a problem.

‘We have spoken to the match referee, the FA and officials from Ipswich Town and we are all confident that the game will take place as scheduled.’

However, supporters are still urged to check the media for any updates/changes (you need only look at the circumstances surrounding the Sheffield Wednesday postponement for why!) and allow themselves plenty of time to travel to today’s game. Supporters are also warned to wrap up… could be a wee bit chilly this afternoon!

I’m sure Ian Holloway won’t be talking about the pitch in his post-match interview this afternoon. Hmm.
