Match Report: Blackpool 1-2 Leicester

I’m not quite sure how to start this match report. I could launch into a discussion about what’s going wrong at the moment etc, but for now I think I’ll just stick to the action. It is Sunday after all.

Ian Holloway made five changes to the side that lost to West Brom with Gilks, Baptiste, Eardley, Taylor-Flether and Bannan coming in.

The first real chance of the afternoon fell to the visitors though. Matt Oakley’s quick throw in caught our entire defence day dreaming, leaving Matt Fryatt through on goal. Fortunately Gilks made a good save.

At the other end, Stephen Dobbie’s shot was turned onto the bar by the impressive Chris Weale.

With fifteen minutes gone though, the Foxes took the lead. Dany N’Guessan sprang the (ludicrious) offside trap to slot home.

Weale then saved from Dobbie again as the ‘Pool looked to get back into the game, whilst Barry Bannan and Keith Southern shot narrowly wide.

Stephen Crainey then cleared off the line, whilst Gilks produced another fine save, this time from Andy King.

Barry Bannan was then replaced by Ben Burgess due to injury in the closing stages of the first half.

Gilks made a cracking save from Fryatt in the second half to keep the Seasiders in it, whilst Dobbie fired over and Southern forced Weale into a save at the other end.

Dreadful defending saw Leicester break away and seal the points ten minutes from time, Lloyd Dyer tapping home.

Blackpool did a pull a goal back in the closing stages through another smart finish from Dobbie, but a bad afternoon was sealed when Charlie Adam was booked for diving at the end despite loud appeals for a penalty. It was his tenth booking of the season and he will now miss the Preston game.
