Blackpool gave an update on Jim McAlister on Sunday following the injury he sustained in the weekend’s clash with Colchester United.

The midfielder was stretchered from the pitch late on in the game and taken immediately to hospital for scans and an assessment.

The fracture to his tibia doesn’t require surgery at this stage as rest and a cast on his right leg should see it heal perfectly well, but as of yet a timescale on his recovery hasn’t been drawn up and will be announced later.

McAlister and his family wished the club to place on record their thanks to club physio Phil Horner, doctor Dominic O’Dowd and the paramedics, doctors and nurses who provided him assistance on Saturday.

They also wished to thank fans for their messages as well as Colchester’s Sean Murray who has apologised for the tackle that led to the injury.
