Jim McAlister has been one of Pool’s most reliable players this season. He’s a dependable and versatile midfielder who always gives 100% and has won over boss Neil McDonald, having played 29 times this season.

Whilst his first goal for the Tangerines is yet to arrive, McAlister is happy with playing every week and spoke of his admiration for the way the current squad is playing.

He told the official site: ‘I don`t think there`s many better teams in the league after scoring first than us. We`re organized, defend for our lives and when the chances come along the boys stick them away.’

‘It`s a big squad and the standard is very high, everyone`s a good player in their own different way, so it`s very reassuring that the manager has confidence in me to keep me in the team.’

On seeking his first Pool goal, McAlister added: ‘It`s something I`m looking to change this year because it`s not as if I don`t get into the right positions.’
