The Blackpool Gazette have reported that Neil McDonald is set to look to the non league for new signings in the hope of finding the next Jamie Vardy.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ll be aware of Leicester’s remarkable rise to the top of the Premier League and Jamie Vardy’s astonishing scoring record this season.
Vardy will have encouraged many managers, including McDonald, to switch focus to the non league and look for players who could potentially have the same impact as Vardy has had.
It’s ironic of course that Blackpool could well have signed Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood a few seasons ago but instead Leicester were prepared to pay the money necessary to bring him to their club.
The chances of finding a player of Vardy’s quality are slim but there’s no reason why it can’t happen.
