Blackpool Manager Neil McDonald has claimed his squad are ‘spoilt at Bloomfield Road’, contradicting the claims of many ex-players.
Speaking about the club’s pre-season training camp in Scotland, McDonald told the club’s media: ‘We are quite spoilt at Bloomfield Road to be fair. We use the hotel for breakfast and lunch, so the lads are well hydrated as well as refuelling between our two sessions a day.’
Whilst McDonald’s optimism can’t be faulted, this quote is likely to cause a stir among many fans who have heard the claims of ex-players regarding life at Blackpool FC. Earlier this month Steven Davies revealed to the Blackpool Gazette how: ‘It wasn`t a nice atmosphere with the protests kicking off from the start. It got to the point where I stopped my family coming.’ Gary Mackenzie also spoke badly of his time at Blackpool, claiming: ‘I was glad to just get out of Blackpool and that negative environment. You need to be happy.’
McDonald’s claims certainly seem to oppose the opinions of ex-players. He either feels things have improved at the club or is making the best of a bad situation.
