At Carrow Road on Tuesday night, Andre Marriner will take charge of the FA Cup 4th round replay between The Seasiders and The Canaries.

The Premiership registered official, who has taken charge of six top flight games this term, is no stranger to the lower divisional teams. Last weekend he witnessed the Darren Anderton show at Dean Court as the former England international netted a hat-trick in The Cherries` 5-0 mauling of Leyton Orient.

The only Blackpool game Marriner has worn the black in was the 2-1 home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday in the second round of fixtures in the 2004/05 season. This was Colin Hendry`s first home game as the top man at Bloomfield Road, and the game will be remembered for Rob Edwards` superb 25 yard freekick! You did read that correctly, yes.

In 22 games so far this term, Marriner has produced 75 yellow cards and 5 reds.

Our record with Premiership referees isn’t great, as they always turn up thinking they’re above our level, which doesn’t stand the game in good-stead. Hopefully, Marriner will be different.

Crikey…hope he’s as lucky for us as he was for the Cherries!

It’s Andre Marriner! He’s reasonablish. He does tend to be a bit fussy and he denied a blatent penalty on Saturday but to be fair we were 4-0 up at the time so it didn’t alter the game. He also made a very good decision to disallow their goal after they put keeper and ball in the back of the net! I quite like him though as a ref, which is a rarity for me!
