The Premiership registered referee, Andy Marriner took charge of The Seasiders` 3-2 extra time defeat at Norwich. How did he do?

The Vital Quotes:
‘We’ve had, and will have, worse referees this season. He was rather whistle happy, and after they equalised everything seemed to go their way. But I think he got most stuff spot on, with the exception of Huckerby’s ‘sending off’.
3.5

‘Wasn’t terrible but wasn’t brilliant.
Should have sent Huckerby off though.’

2.5

The defining quote came from – as always – Platos who summed up Marriner`s performance by saying: ‘Homer and coward. 1

With a couple more votes, Marriner`s MIB rating stands at 2.5.

Certainly not the worst ref we`ve ever had, but many felt he cost ‘Pool the game of their lives away at Chelsea.

The booking of Huckerby was the key moment in the game. Would another referee have sent him off? We’ll never know!!

Homer and coward. Huckerbery should have been sent off. Coward.

Even a preston fan phoned me this morning and said he should have been sent off. He saw it on the BBC by the way. Granada Soccer night just did the usual Manchester and Liverpool teams.
