MIB – Attwell and Taylor

Over the Christmas period, two referees have overseen ‘Pool games – namely S. Attwell and A. Taylor.

Attwell was the referee who – after only seven minutes at Bramall Lane – harshly sent off ‘Pool defender Ian Evatt for a professional foul, thus giving Sheffield United the chance to score from the spot, one in which they spurned.

Our voters on the forum gave him an average score of: 1.7. Quotes such as ‘Regardless of WHEN it was a shirt pull is NOT a red card. Even if he WAS last man, he didn’t have the ball. It was hit and hope cross. Without the pull was he going on to score? NO. Therefore NO red. He killed the game’ summed up the feeling towards Attwell, in his first ever match at this level.

Luckily, The Seasiders produced a fantastic gritty (no, it doesn’t sound right, but it was fantastically gritty, honest!) performance to grind out a 1-1 draw against Bryan Robson`s side.

In contrast to the poor mark for Attwell, Mr Taylor scored relatively well after Blackpool’s 4-0 thumping of ten man Coventry City, with his average score for that match being 3.8.

The wide range of scores was alarming, with LaytonSeasider saying:

My reasoning for this; even though he fooked up a couple of penalty decisions he at least made up for it by giving us one that wasn’t. Now someone like Terry Heilbron (now retired thank the lord) would give us none of them and when we chanted something to him he’d give a dozen decisions against us for having the temerity to bring his authority into question.

I tell you what my rages against him would make the Incredible Hulk’s pre metamorphasis anger look like he was a tad peeved!!! I’ve shouted all the names under the sun at him in the past when in the old West and he’s come right over to me and eyeballed me. His mum and dad must have brought him on holiday when he was a kid and it peed down all fortnight, he dropped his ice cream on the sand, and a donkey threw him off into a pile of poo because he hated Blackpool, the T**t!!!’

?and SeasideEssexXile noting:

‘4.5 from me.

2 big decisions and he got no help whatsoever from the liners on either.
Thought the pen was spot on and also thought the red was warranted.
Blew up early doors but was making his mark on the game. Nice to see a ref actually make a wall go back 10yds, and he paced it all the way. He missed the foul on Barker after about 10 mins but other than that he had a decent game.

Interesting in the lounge afterwards people were saying how good he was but were booing the liners saying how sheeite they were.’

Having already accumulating a MIB score of 3.55, his Cov City rating of 3.8 means his rating is now 3.68, which keeps him in second place on our table, with only K. Hill ahead of him with a whopping average of 4.4.
