‘Never Forget’

On the back of the North stand at Bloomfield Road (right next to the club shop), there is a plaque. That plaque reads ‘In memory of Kevin Olsson, 1956 – 1974. R.I.P. Never Forget.’

Kevin – just seventeen at the time – was stabbed to death at the back of the Spion Kop at Bloomfield Road on 24th August 1974 during a game with Bolton Wanderers. The murderer was never caught.

The plaque was funded by a series of charity events organised by Mick Page, and unveiled on the 35th anniversary of Kevin’s death before last season’s Carling Cup victory over Wigan.

However, not only does the plaque remind us of Kevin, but it also serves as a reminder of those Seasiders who are no longer with us, unable to enjoy ‘The best trip we’ve ever been on’. Hopefully the team can continue to do them proud with a big performance at the Reebok tomorrow.

R.I.P. Never Forget.
