Blackpool failed to complete any permanent deals by the 6pm deadline yesterday as the squad remains lacking quality.
Despite McDonald being confident of completing 3 deals yesterday, the club were unable to sign anyone. The boss had previously spoken of his desire to add 6 or 7 new players which he lessened to 2 or 3 this week, but he was left frustrated as no new faces arrived. The attention now turns to the free transfer and loan window.
McDonald had previously defended Oyston and insisted he was being backed, though it may now be dawning on him that the Blackpool job is near impossible under the current circumstances. Pool managed to complete a few deals earlier in the window but it’s obvious the current squad lacks in numbers and in quality.
The news is very disappointing for us fans who know that was the club’s chance to make things right and get in the players needed, though it can hardly be called a surprise that no deals were done.
Pool will likely make a few free transfer and loan signings as they’ve done in previous seasons. Again it seems Oyston is pursuing the cheap option as oppose to making a valid effort at improving the current situation by signing proven players.
