The club have announced on their website that 34 year old midfielder David Norris has completed his move to Blackpool on a deal until the end of the season.
Norris was most recently at Yeovil on a non contract basis but left to sign for Blackpool.
The midfielder has played for a host of teams including Plymouth, Ipswich and Leeds but arguably his best performances came in a Portsmouth shirt.
Norris certainly ticks the box of an experienced midfielder, something which Blackpool have been desperately lacking this season. However, the fact he didn’t do enough to impress at Yeovil would lead some to the conclusion that he doesn’t have much to offer anymore.
It’s totally unfair to write a signing off before he’s played a game and Norris deserves a chance to show what he has to offer. However, the fact the club went the whole of the transfer window without spending money on a midfielder who we know for sure will do well in League One and then signing Norris on a free after the window ends is just another sign of how the club’s ownership is failing to properly invest.
It’s unsure when Norris will make his debut, but with McDonald insisting he will shake up his starting 11 his first appearance could come sooner rather than later.
