Manager Lee Clark has confirmed that Darren O’Dea is fit for the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers this weekend.

The defender was withdrawn during the first half of our victory over Millwall, but he has reacted well to treatment and recovered in time to return to training and stake his claim for his starting spot back.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, Clark gave an injury update on the first team and started with O’Dea.

‘He has had a good week in terms of treatment and is fine, we had a bit of a shock because he’s had an ankle problem before, so Darren was concerned when he took a knock. He’s gradually grown with each game. You only improve by playing games and he has certainly done that.’

The gaffer went on to say that news was positive when it came to Jose Miguel Cubero and Gary McKenzie.

‘We’ve got a behind closed doors friendly next Tuesday at Leeds, so they’ll be getting some important minutes in that. You can do as much of the physical side and fitness sessions on the training pitch, ut the only thing that gets you ready for games is actually playing.’

Clark says it’s an ‘important few weeks’ for those lads but he’s confident because they we’ve been working extremely hard to get back in shape so hopefully they can hit the ground running, but he knows we can’t expect too much too soon from them as they will have to get back in the swing of things again.
