Ollie Becoming Frustrated?

At the weekend, Ian Holloway rang into Jeremy Kyle’s Talksport show and had a chat with him.

There were all his usual quips, thoughts, theories and soundbites etc, but amongst it all, I also thought I heard a frustrated man.

Ollie spoke about being like a fish floundering in a bucket when it comes to the transfer market at the moment; agents are proving difficult, whilst he’s also not happy at the prices he is being quoted at for players.

Ollie has said that he wants to sign at least nine players this summer, but we’re still awaiting the first arrival at Bloomfield Road.

Things have got that bad that Francis Jeffers is training with us to make up the numbers!

I like the fact that Ollie’s refusing to close deals that aren’t right and wait it out for the ones that are, but as the new season draws ever closer, we’re in desperate need of new signings.

Let’s hope that this game of patience pays off, else we really are in big trouble. After all, at present, our squad is currently weaker than the one that got promoted.

Dekel Keinan looks set to be one of the nine as he is just waiting on a work permit now, but that still leaves at least eight more signings needing to be made.

And, it is my understanding, that Kerrea Gilbert will not be one of them.

The ex Arsenal defender was spotted at Bloomfield Road a few days ago having talks about a move to the seaside, but it would appear that Ollie has pulled the plug on the deal after having second thoughts and deciding that Gilbert is not physical enough for the Premier League.

At least he got to speak to Gilbert though. With all of our other targets, we seem to be getting nowhere fast.

Let’s hope that frustration is replaced by justification in the next few weeks, with Ollie’s game of patience finally paying off and us finally landing our targets.

If not, he’ll not be the only one who’s frustrated… I can hear the moaning already…

The squad section has not been filled in, so you must be very short of players. Hope you have a good first season with the big boys and can stay up and build for the future.

Its our first season in the prem, its all new to us… so we must do things to break the mould… that includes spending cash on players and higher wages to attract the players we need. Its ok being offered deals on player prices but another trying to afford over hyped wages. Come on Karl…. so many great names been linked with the Pool. Lets Have it ! 🙂

Could I have timed this article any better with Ollie’s comments on SSN just now about being priced out of moves for everyone?! Tough and worrying times!
