After Kenny Dalglish had joined Blackburn Rovers, his first dealings in the transfer market was to pay a record fee at that time of £400,000 for Alan Wright.

Wright started off for the Seasiders by making his debut by coming in as a substitute against Chesterfield back in 1988. Blackpool won the game 1-0.

Wright at the time was Blackpool’s youngest player and went on to make 91 appearances with a further 7 coming on as a substitute.
