Optimistic Ollie

Ian Holloway and Karl Oyston last night met at Bloomfield Road to discuss all things transfer related as the Seasiders’ need to bring in new players itensifies.

Indeed, it was close to midnight before the manager and chairman left the ground after a long meeting that involved several phone calls – presumably to clubs, players and agents on the basis of what Ollie said after tonight’s game with Crewe.

But what exactly did Ollie say? Well, he stated that he was optimistic that new signings would be arriving at the club soon after he and KO decided to meet the transfer demands from two clubs for two unnamed players.

Speaking to the offivial site, Ollie said:

‘I’m very optimistic that some of these things now, the bait that we’re throwing in the water, might get a bite.

‘After that meeting we’ve offered two things that people actually asked for, in the way that they asked for it, so for me that’s close to completion. We’ve now got the problem of dealing with the players and their contracts.

‘We’re getting closer and closer to some of the names that I want. I’m trying to get quality and I’m being supported totally and utterly all the way through.’

After a pitiful summer transfer wise for the Seasiders that has seen them a) refuse to meet some extortinate demands by clubs, players and agents and b) make some ‘insulting’ offers (the word Ollie used) to clubs, players and agents (it is rumoured that the Seasiders made a pitiful bid for Ross Wallace, for example), there might, just might be some light at the end of the tunnel.

At present, it is unclear who the two players might be, but very strong rumours continue to link Derby County striker Rob Hulse with a move to the seaside.

Blackpool is unfortunate to be in desperate need of signings at a time when City’s spending is vastly over-pricing the market, in my opinion. Still, in Holloway you trust, right?

Dubaispur – Yes we do believe in Holloway, just need KO to slacken his purse strings Just a touch and bite the bullet and spend on transfers …. and meet the wage demands. Not foolishly but atleast enough to allow the mighty pool to stand a chance in the Big Boys League.

True, bfc, but Oyston’s probably got a lot of things he’s planning to do with Backpool’s PL dosh, not least of which is probably upgrading the training ground and the ongoing adjustments to the stadium. The squad needs a major overhaul to compete in the league, and I personally don’t think Holloway will be able to do that till January due to the captal commitments you guys have already made. If he buys well in January, you’ll still be in with a shout of stating up, so don’t worry. Loans now and permanent signings in January,in t opinion.
