Blackpool FC have declared on the official site that they have submitted a planning application to build a new training facility at Squires Gate.
The current training facilities have been heavily criticised in the past, with former Pool boss Ian Holloway labeling it a ‘hell hole’ in 2009.
The Blackpool Gazette famously ran a story in 2009 that Oyston pledged to build a new training ground complex, something which has stuck in the memory of many Pool supporters over the years as a new training ground has yet to be built.
Though it seem 6 years on, progress is finally being made and an application has been submitted.
The statement on the official site says: ‘The application seeks full planning permission for the replacement of the existing training facilities with a new purpose-built set of facilities, located broadly on the same footprint as the existing building.’
‘The new facility the club plans to erect will include changing rooms, a classroom, offices, a hospitality area/players’ canteen, rehabilitation gym, physiotherapists’ room and associated facilities.’
