Chairman Karl Oyston has today issued an apology following the text rant that broke in the media the other day.

A statement issued on the Official Site read as follows.

‘I would like to unreservedly apologise for any offence or distress caused by my test responses reported in the media recently. I regret stooping to the level of those threatening and abusing my family.’

Osyton goes on to say that his mobile number had been posted on a social media website in recent times and it had led to a ‘barrage’ of abuse concerning both himself and his family and he feels that with the benefit of hindsight, his ‘foolish’ decision to challenge the abuse, harrassment and threats with a similar tone was the exact outcome that those contacting him would’ve hoped for,.

‘Given my position, I should have acted with more responsibility and reported the abusive text messages, phone calls and answer phone messages to the Police, rather than get embroiled in such an exchange.’

Osyston went on to say that Blackpool pride themselves on their community work and he does not want his ‘unacceptable comments’ to detract from the ‘fantastic’ work being undertaken by our Community Trust so he knows it’s only right and proper to have issues this apology swiftly to try and draw a line under these events.
