The Daily Mail are today linking Blackpool’s Matt Phillips with a loan move to League One Sheffield United.

The right winger has found first team opportunities limited thus far this season and ‘Pool manager Ian Holloway recently confirmed that he would be prepared to allow the 20 year old winger to join a League One club on loan in order to get games, form and confidence under his belt.

And according to the Mail, Danny Wilson’s promotion chasing side have made a move for the highly rated England youth international by offering to take him on loan until January.

Whether Phillips would be up for the move is up for question however, with Ollie stating over the weekend that he had accepted loan offers for two players, only for both of those players to reject the moves following advice from their agents.

The Seasiders gaffer has said that he wants to loan certain members of his squad out, but has refused to allow them to join rival Championship clubs – perhaps where the agents’ issues lie.

A loan move to a lesser league might just be what Phillips needs however. Ever since Ollie tried to convert him to an attacking right back (a scheme that he’s since dropped after admitting it failed) he’s looked out of sorts.

The Mail reports that United hope to conclude the deal in time for Phillips to face city rivals Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
