‘Pool And Wolves Scrap It Out For Hammill

Vital Blackpool understands that Blackpool face stiff competition from Wolves for Barnsley’s Adam Hammill, but that the club remain very hopeful that a deal can be struck with the player.

Despite conflicting reports from Barnsley, it is our understanding that both the Seasiders and Wolves have met Hammill’s £500,000 Premier League release clause and have held talks with the player. Indeed, it has been reported that Hammill was at Bloomfield Road last week to see the Seasiders beat Liverpool.

Championship outfit Nottingham Forest also made a bid for the attacking midfielder, but Hammill himself told Sky Sports that he only wants to move to a Premier League club:

‘If I do leave it would have to be for a Premier League side.

‘All the best players aspire to play there, and there are two Premier league clubs who are interested in me.

‘But this is a difficult decision for me because I’ve got to weigh up how much game time I might get if I move to a top-flight team.

‘I’m getting regular football at Barnsley and I really enjoy playing for the club. I am not going to rush my decision whatever happens.

‘I won’t move for the sake of it and money will definitely not be a motivation because that would mean I am leaving for the wrong reasons.’

Fingers crossed that Hammill is making a return to Bloomfield Road in the very near future!
