Blackpool lost their 2nd game in a row as they fell to a 1-0 defeat away at Bradford.
It was a very poor game at Valley Parade with neither side looking that impressive, however James Hanson’s header just before halftime was enough to win it for Bradford.
Jarrett Rivers and Charles Dunne came into the side for the game and Hayden White moved from right wing to right back.
Pool made a similar start to that of the match against Bury on the weekend, though they managed to avoid conceding. James Hanson however did go close after two minutes.
The Tangerines began to play better after the first ten minutes and Jim McAlister had a decent chance, but his long range effort could only sting the hands of keeper Ben Williams.
Though Bradford could have taken the lead soon after when Devante Cole’s deflected effort forced a great save out of Colin Doyle.
After going close, the home side would take the lead just before halftime and it was another set piece that proved problematic for Pool. James Hanson got up above Clark Robertson who really should have done better and headed the corner home.
The second half started much calmer than the first and Pool slightly edged it, David Norris went close from outside the area when his effort flew just wide.
Blackpool had a prime chance to get back into the game moments later when Rivers’ cross was met by Mark Cullen who could only glance a header wide.
With around twenty minutes to go Pool had another great chance when David Norris’ effort hit the woodwork.
McDonald’s side couldn’t get the equaliser and lost their 2nd game on the bounce.
It wasn’t the worst performance from Pool and they certainly could have come away with a draw if they weren’t lacking the finishing quality they desperately needed.
It was a set piece that was the problem again for Pool and there is certainly more work that needs to be done on the training ground to fix this.
Blackpool seem to be sliding back into poor form again which is disappointing given that they seemed to be turning a corner and could start looking up the table only a week ago.
With a couple of cup games coming up, a break from League football could help them recapture their form and refocus on climbing away from the bottom of the table when they return to league action.
Let’s hope this is the case!
