‘Pool Miss Out On Hammill?

In breaking news tonight, several national newspapers are reporting that Barnsley midfielder Adam Hammill has travelled to Wolves for a medical ahead of a £500,000 move to the club.

The news will come as a massive blow to Ian Holloway and Blackpool who made signing Hammill one of their priorities this transfer window.

Even though both clubs had offers accepted for the player after meeting a release clause in his contract, ‘Pool remained confident that the package they put to the player would see him rejoin the Seasiders over signing for Wolves; confidence that increased when Hammill said that (despite earlier media reports suggesting that his wage demands were too high for the Seasiders) the money on the table didn’t matter to him, but playing regularly in the Premier League did.

However, the same reports suggesting that Hammill is on the verge of signing for Wolves also state that he will sign a £20,000 a week contract with the club… obviously the player’s words about money were hollow whichever way you look at it, and the Seasiders will be rueing persuing his signature for so long this window.

So where to now for the Seasiders? As always Ollie has compiled a long list of targets to work through and expect the Seasiders to be linked with a whole fresh batch of names in the coming days.

One name doing the rounds once again Bradley Wright-Phillips, although it is Vital’s understanding that the injury striken forward is likely to join Rangers in a £300,000 deal – a price that the Seasiders are unlikely to match.

Fingers crossed that Ollie has some more bargains up this sleeve, and that this time they actually sign on the dotted line!
