The winning streak continued as it`s now 12 on the bounce for The Seasiders as a Ben Burgess strike in the second half ensured a safe passage into the Carling Cup`s second round.

Simon Grayson`s men had their chances in the opening period, with Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Keigan Parker both missing glaring one on ones.

Keith Southern saw a side-footed shot fly over soon after, as ‘Pool built pressure.

At the back they looked solid, although lapses of concentration allowed Kamara and Collins breach the ‘Pool defence and test Paul Rachubka.

Minutes before the break Ian Evatt broke down with an injury and was replaced by Kaspars Gorkss – who impressed in the second half.

In the second half, ‘Pool continued to look threatening, without really turning the screw until Wes Hoolahan was introduced.

The little Irishman brought more players into play, and we look a more composed unit whilst playing at a higher tempo.

The breakthrough came 15 minutes from the end, when Burgess was found 15 yards out, and he slotted the ball home to send 6000 fans inside Bloomfield Road wild.

The impressive Chris Brandon had a good chance for Town at the death, but Blackpool held on and are in the draw for the next round.
