With the sacking of Colin Calderwood after the humiliating 4-2 defeat against Doncaster, Nottingham Forest join Blackpool in looking for a new manager to steer them to Championship safety. However, does this spell trouble for The Seasiders, with The Reds having much more pulling power in the managerial market?

Favourites for the top job at the City Ground are Billy Davies and Aidy Boothroyd, with the frontrunner for the ‘Pool job being Steve Cotterill. However, the former Burnley boss is a rank outsider for the Forest vacancy.

If (and this remains a huge if) Karl Oyston wanted to bring a big name gaffer to Bloomfield Road, Forest act as a mammoth wall in front of any possible move. Even though they sit in the relegation zone, the club obviously has a much bigger fanbase than us, coupled with greater potential.

And whilst the manager position is up in the air at Forest, the ‘bigger’ managers may just be holding fire for now with regard to our job – just in case they come knocking.

Perhaps we should expect Tony Parkes and Steve Thompson until the end of the season?
