Blackpool’s one-nil defeat to Man United in the Lancashire Senior Cup saw a trial given to midfielder Conor Doyle, with boss Neil McDonald on hand to watch his progress in this game.

The Blackpool Gazette reports the 25-year-old, who hails from the Isle of Man and is currently playing for the IOM representative side (which I assume is exactly what it says on the tin), as spending a lot of his playing career so far in America but returned to Britain a couple of years ago.

He, in what was an experienced Blackpool side with a number of first-team players on display in this reserve game to get some extra minutes under their belts, played alongside John Herron in midfield at Bloomfield Road.

What could happen, as far as a deal goes, for him isn’t yet known but he wouldn’t have got a trial if there wasn’t a chance of this would he? So we’ll see what the coming days, or weeks, bring!
