So, it’s Wednesday and the build up to the Lancashire derby on Monday night has started.

New Preston loan signing Michael Tongue has been the first player to speak about the fixture.

And he’s confident that the Lilywhites can be the first club to win at Bloomfield Road this season.

Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post, Tongue – who made his debut against Newcastle on Monday night – said: ‘It’s Blackpool next and that’s going to be a big game.

‘They are doing really well this season, which will make things difficult, but if we go there and take with us the performance we put in against Newcastle, then we can come home with three points.

‘I’m sure it will be a tasty game over there.’

The midfielder, who had previously only played for his parent club Stoke in the League Cup so far this campaign, says he’s fit and raring to go.

‘I thought before the game that I might struggle to get through 90 minutes because I hadn’t been playing in the Stoke team.

‘But I was all right in the end. Maybe in the last 10 minutes I was running on empty.’
