On Sky

After another boring international break proper football is back.

Chasing their first home win of the season Blackpool entertain moneybags Manchester City.

City possess some of the world’s best players and have started the season strongly, but Blackpool will be confident of getting something from the game after turning over Liverpool prior to the break.

City aren’t the best on their road and their defensive set up will invite the Seasiders to do what they do best – attack.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see if the Seasiders can break down a tight City defence and stave off the threat of the Citizens counter attacking without Ian Holloway on the touchline (Ollie will be in the stands as he serves a one match touchline ban for his verbal assault against Mike Dean in the home game v Blackburn).

The Seasiders haven’t quite clicked at home yet; will it be third time lucky on Sunday?

Vital Quotes: Ian Holloway

‘This is the match between the biggest opposites in the division – massive-spending City and us. You won’t get two more opposite ends of the spectrum.

‘People can turn defence into attack in ten seconds, so you look like you are in a good situation, then bang, you are one down. City are one of a number of teams that can hit you like that.’

Blackpool Team News:

It is believed that Ollie has no new injury concerns following the international break.

Player to watch: Charlie Adam

Lauded for his performances against Liverpool and Spain, can Adam raise the bar once more in what promises to be a congested midfield on Sunday?

Man City Team News:

Roberto Mancini is without long term absentees Alexander Kolarov and Mario Balotelli, but otherwise has a full squad to pick from.

Player to watch: Carlos Tevez

Man City’s captain marvel. Had a bust-up with Mancini before the international break; will the two have patched things up?

Match Facts & Stats

Whilst Man City have the second best defence in the league having conceding just three goals, the Seasiders have the worst have conceded fifteen. However, it is worth remembering that ten of those came v Arsenal and Chelsea.

Carlos Tevez has scored 26 goals in his last 30 Premier League games and has scored 5/9 of City’s league goals this season.

Interestingly, City have two points less than they did at this stage last season under Mark Hughes.

bad luck blackpool fans, you were cheated out of this game.them 2 linesmen would need to go to specsavers.

  • Clevblue says:

Yes, you were robbed I hold my hands up to that, no ifs or buts. Please tell Ollie to stop the little man little team thing it will become boring. He knows and we know he’s a very good manager with a bit of money, he could take you higher, Ask Karl Oyston

GUTTED. Not only did you have a legit Goal disallowed but they scored 2 that shouldn’t of been… Still Silva’s was a touch of class worthy of any Win, but still you guys played SUPERBLY. How close did DJ come !!! great 1st touch then it trickled wide NOOOOOOOO ! So close. Blackpool & Holloway are perfect Ambassadors for the PL. I hope your around at the Top for many years to come & don’t suffer the classic 2nd Season hangover. Personally I wanted the likes of Danny Rose, Jake Livermore, Kyle Walker & Jon Obika to go on loan in the PL & I wouldn’t of had a problem with ALL 4 joining you guys ! Holloway is hands down my favourite Manager 2nd its between Harry & Jose no lie (& I’ve respected & admired Harry since West Ham !). In a couple of years time (after your continued stay in the PL of cause) I wouldn’t be moaning if we were to relieve you of Sir Holloway ! So you’ve been politely warned, continue with your great Season playing like that & you’ll be pushing Fulham, Everton, & Villa for Europe ! ;-D

You were awesome today…City didn’t even deserve a point! You battered them most the game and if it wasn’t for poor linesman decisions then you would have won or got the point you were truly robbed and keep that up and you will not have to worry about relegation.

Better luck against Villa, Spurs and the like. They love you guys so much they’ll hand you 6 points each. Good performance by the way.

  • RobsonGreensleeves says:

Good performance by you guys but it’s points that count and we got all 3. You’ll be ok if you go on like this.

PS, you need to ignore all the condescending comments and head patting from Spurs and Villa fans, they don’t like City for some reason that we’re very glad about. They’ll hate you if you beat them…..and rightly so!

  • ChelseaDC says:

Like the others say, you guys were robbed. Holloway deserves to bad mouth the officials after that horrendous display. Good luck for the future Blackpool, you guys play great football, outplayed City for 80% of the match.

ROBSON my words aren’t patronising they’re fact from watching a robbery today. All of what I wrote is pure honesty. Silva is awesome & should be a starter for you guys. Ps if Tevez & Mancini can’t sort out their problems then we’ll take Tevez off your hands, no probs ! ;=P. Today City had a masterclass in Team Chemistry, now IF they figure that out, then those £100Ms will see Championships & Silver Wear for a long time to come. But as Holloway correctly pointed out the VALUE FOR MONEY WAS ALL BLACKPOOL 2day ! Welldone Blackpool you really did great 2day, if only the officials put in 1/5th of your professionalism. BUT SADLY YOU WERE ROBBED 🙁

1 other point Robson the reason the likes of Spurs, Villa & Everton fans have such a problem with City is simple. For years we’ve ALL structured Our Clubs in the correct manner to work our way to the top of the League. We’ve mainly focused on young British Talent, of cause we have Foreign players & we love them dearly BUT Our policy has been about blooding as much British quality as possible. We haven’t sold Our Souls like Chelski & Citeh, who have not only ruined the transfer market but to be honest made a mockery of Football. City were bang in trouble before Thaksin, now I’ve ALWAYS had a soft spot for City & I hate UTD (mainly coz 80% of their Fans have NEVER been to OT yet alone know where it is on the map) so I didn’t want you guy’s to disappear like Accrington Stanley or Leeds, but look at the wage structure alone its a FARCE. Yes you have plenty of English talent, thank goodness & plenty are in the National side, but unlike Spurs, Villa & Everton they’re not all players you’ve nurtured or taken a risk on. Lescott, Barry, Milner, Johnson, Bridge all from a fat wallet. Yes Hart, Richards, SuperMarketSweep (SWP) & Onouha all were there so you have nurtured some. With the exception of Bridge who’s career you kinda saved ! All the rest whilst paying a tidy sum have had disastrous effects on the relevant Clubs. Tho I loved your poster regarding Tevez, what made that SO funny was the fact in its Truth “Welcome To Manchester” Classic ! At least Chelsea were Top 4 ! You were going down in more ways than 1. THATS WHY City have so much negativity against them. We don’t want Sheiks or Oil Barons running Our Club for fun. We want Our Clubs to be run correctly & fairly. Its just a more deserving Club like Everton deserved the owners (if they wanted them) you received as they like us have gone about developing a Team correctly.

Apologies for taking over your Site to make a point to City Fans !

  • RobsonGreensleeves says:

Treble posting just shows that you don’t think before you type, what you say is boring and recycled and yes, you are being patronising. If the opposition was United today or Chelsea you would not have consoled with them would you. Point proven. over and out.

  • True Spurs Supporter says:

Robson, what I said were the bare simple facts. If they had been on the same end of SUCH poor decisions, then obviously I would say the same. As I would apologise to Blackpool or any other Team my Team had robbed. Fulham, before you even start, the rules of offside clearly state that coz Gallas wasn’t in the line of sight & DIDN”T touch the ball he wasn’t offside. City’s 1st was clearly offside & active & the 2nd, Tevez clearly fouled the defender, then went on to score. Like I also said Silvas goal just like the player was an absolute Gem. How about Blackpool’s Goal ruled out was that correct ? No. The truth may hurt but its still the TRUTH. Grow up Robson & comment on the facts. Or does Money also by the truth ?
