Blackpool Vital understands that Blackpool goalkeeper Paul Rachubka has signed a new contract at the club.

The American joins a number of first team regulars including Ian Evatt and Ben Burgess to commit their future to The Seasiders.

And the deal could see Rabs keep goal for the ‘Pool until the end of the 2012-13 season, given that his contract is a two year extension to his current one, with a year option.

It is thought that Leeds United were interested in snapping up the stopper – who’s been near ever-present this campaign – but he has chosen to remain at Bloomfield Road.

Hardly surprising that former Blackpool gaffer Simon Grayson was chasing Rachubka, as it was he who brought the former Manchester United man to the seaside in 2007.

86 games later he’s still the Blackpool number one, and now looks set to be for years to come.

And in a cracking few weeks for the club, roll on the summer for some fresh faces to join the likes of Rachubka, Evatt, Burgess, Southern and co!

I hear DJ Campbell wants to stay? Is it just me or do we really need another big dipper when we have a much better one on the pleasure beach? He’s rubbish!
