Release Clauses, Claus Released?

Blackpool Vital has been informed that talismatic Irish left winger Wes Hoolahan has today joined Norwich City on a three year deal.

The most contentious issue surrounding this long running saga has been the alleged £250,000 release clause that Wes had in his contract allowing our newest full international to leave for a fee way below his market value.

To compound matters stories have in recent weeks circulated that two other star players – Kaspars Gorkss and Stephen Crainey – also have a similar clause in their contracts. Gorkss has for some time been linked with a move to Championship rivals such as Crystal Palace, Watford and Norwich.

However of even more concern is the story now emanating from the darkest reaches of East Lancashire that Burnley are planning to buy the popular Crainey for £1/4 million.

The question all Blackpool fans are asking themselves is has the Chairman, a man who has constantly claimed to be an astute businessman, really come a poor second in contract negotiations with a number of the first team squad?

As if this news was not bad enough to bear it seems we may possibly have seen the last of Claus Jorgensen in a Seasiders’ shirt as the central midfielder appears to be stalling over accepting the one year contract offer made to him several weeks ago.
