Defender Clark Robertson has been speaking about how he’s had to adapt to the physical nature of League Two following his arrival from Aberdeen.
The 23 year old’s progress has also been hampered by a few knocks to his head in matches and he has missed games through concussion protocols, but speaking to the Official Site ahead of this weekend’s action, Robertson explained that he felt he was now more adjusted to the division and he was looking for a good run of games now so he could kick on.
‘The last few weeks have kind of been stop-start for me, I missed a couple of games because I was concussed, but I’m back now and I feel as though I’m performing well. I actually think it’s been a bit tougher for me, it’s probably been a bit more physical with more teams going route one. I’ve probably adapted my game again since last season and dealt with it well. I like to think that I’m a ball playing centre-half and I always look to find feet with my passes, but I need the other side of the game as well and the manager has spoken to me about that. It’s about trying to get that consistency in my game.’
Having made 41 appearances across all competitions last season as Blackpool suffered relegation, the stats say in his 15 games so far this year he already has 28 clearances and seven blocks, and he went on to say that playing alongside more experience colleagues continues to give him the opportunity to learn and improve his own game more.
‘I’m learning with every game, obviously I’m still young and I’ve got Tom next to me who is helping me and has got a few years on me, and the likes of Tayls as well to the left of me.’
Going into Cheltenham this weekend following the four two victory over Doncaster Rovers, he ended by saying.
‘We’ve been leading quite a few games away from home this season and not picked up many points. The manager has been saying that we maybe need to play a bit differently away from home and try and shut up shop when we do go in front. We had a good result last weekend but we need to go and push on again by trying to get two wins on the bounce and get us up that league.’
