Blackpool have drawn Southampton away in the FA Cup Third Round this evening, in what is undoubtedly the tie of the round (it isn’t).

The game will take place on the weekend of 8th/9th January, just four days after the Seasiders play Birmingham at Bloomfield Road in the Premier League and seven days before the Seasiders travel to West Brom, again in the Premier League.

Bearing the importance of those two league games in mind, expect ‘Pool manager Ian Holloway to play his ‘reserves’ at St. Mary’s – a cupset could most definitely be on the cards.

As much as it might help my lot I would much rather see IH play a near full strength side rather than a second eleven. I am looking forward to the game and hope that with two teams who like to play attacking football we get a good game. Whatever the result it will be good to be able to say we saw a great game.
