Plans for the structure of Blackpool Football Club in the Premiership are beginning to take shape.

Chairman Karl Oyston today spoke to the official website to confirm what the board of directors decided was the best way to go.

The east stand will be built as a temporary ‘modular’ structure, housing 5070 seats and 70 press spots. This will take capacity up above 16,000 – a mammoth achievement for the Seasiders who just a decade ago were struggling for 4,000 in a ramshackle Bloomfield Road.

A modular stand could mean that ‘Pool build a permanent structure in bits and keep the temporary seats in whilst they do it – meaning capacity wouldn’t be hit too badly. However, that seems a long way off at the moment.

Worcester Warriors, a Rugby Union side, also have a modular stand.

It doesn’t look temporary and has a roof. That’s something which will look smart and – for want of a better phrase – see Bloomfield Road look a “proper” facility.

Other news was to follow: the new press seating means tickets are freed up in block M for home supporters.

Rust on the North and West stands will be cleaned up before the beginning of the season and new seats will be installed to match the colour of those in the Jimmy Armfield South.

The ‘Gene Kelly’ east was thought to have been sold to Accrington Stanley but now will be used for the new training ground.

Some bad news followed – that the supporters bar in the South stand will not be completed by August. The club are looking for other supporters areas around the ground and are set to complete 60 rooms in the new hotel.

we need to start building asap otherwise it will take untill the end of the season before we can get 16000 and a lot of lost money

    3000 extra seats @ £25 a game x 19 games = pennies to what we have now 😉
