Last week`s Vital poll asked the question ‘How much is Shaun Barker worth?` following widespread media reports detailing Derby County`s interest in the player.

Barker, who has been somewhat of a revelation since switching from right back to centre half, has attracted the interest of numerous Championship clubs, including Preston. However, it is Derby that he has been most heavily linked with, with Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston publically criticising Nigel Clough`s club for attempting to unsettle the player (sound familiar?), and Sky Sports reporting that the Seasiders have rejected offers for the player from the Midlands club.

Just 9% of members felt that Barker was worth up to £250,000, whilst 6% felt he was worth between quarter and half a million. 30% felt that he should be valued around the £750,000 mark, whilst 15% stated that Karl should demand up to a million pounds for him. However, 40% of voters said that Barker was worth over a million pounds. Whether or not voters actually believe that Barker is worth this amount or are just fed up with the club losing their better players for what seems to be a pittance is unclear and is open to debate. Either way, it would appear that Derby and other suitors are going to have to splash the cash if they want to secure his signing.

This week`s poll asks whether you would be happy to have Steve Thompson as manager if indeed Tony Parkes has left the club after failing to agree terms on becoming the new manager.
