Signings strengthen Seasiders squad

This must be the month that every manager up and down the country dreads. Trying to get deals done and keep hold of your prized assets means that January must be the busiest month of the season for managers.

With Blackpool’s squad depleted from the mass exodus of loan players it is reassuring that the current management combination are steadily rebuilding the squad. Sadly, but not surprisingly, once again it looks like the loan market that Pool will be concentrating on.

You’ve been voting in our poll this past week on which areas of the team you think need the most strengthening. It’s clear that the fans and the manager agree that strikers are essential to beef up a weak looking forward line. 58 per cent of you wanted some strikers to sign for the Seasiders and so far DJ Campbell and Roy O’Donovan have obliged with more possibly on the way.

It’s also clear that Tony Parkes is keen to add some width to the Blackpool team. Winger Graeme Owens signed on loan from Middlesbrough last week and Parkes is hopeful that Adam Hammill will return to Bloomfield Road from Liverpool.

I’m sure Parkes and Steve Thompson will spend the remainder of the month glued to the phone trying to tie up more deals. I’m just glad I won’t have to pay their phone bill!
