11 other players from the world cup winning squad of 66` are due to receive retrospective medals. Fifa announced the news this afternoon which was backed by Richard Caborn the 2018 World Cup bid ambassador.

The ruling means all finalists between 1930 and 1974 will receive a medal, with families of players who have since died taking the medals their relatives earned.

It`s a great recognition to the world`s greatest right back who went on to make 43 appearances for the national team and 560 (6) appearances for Blackpool, his only club.

Other members of the England squad to be awarded medals are:

* Jimmy Greaves (Tottenham)

* Jimmy Armfield (Blackpool)

* Peter Bonetti (Chelsea)

* John Connolly (Manchester United)

* Ron Springett (Sheffield Wednesday)

* Gerry Byrne (Liverpool)

* Ron Flowers (Wolves)

* Norman Hunter (Leeds)

* Terry Paine (Southampton)

* Ian Callaghan (Liverpool)

* George Eastham (Arsenal)

We await for Jimmy to be honored once again with the building of the South Stand which will be named after great man. Lets hope we don`t have to wait as long as the boys from 66` had to.
